We finished a book called Of Mice and Men, for our literature group. Here are the questions I am going to answer; 1. Discuss George’s actions at the end of the novel. How can we justify what he does to Lennie? How can we condemn it?
2. Analyze the characters of Slim, Crooks, and Curley. What role does each character play?
Answers:
1. Well when Lennie killed Curley's wife, what could George do? Run away again? I think George did this cause he was trying to save Lennie a lot of pain, because Curley would probably just torture him until he was out of his mind (insane). But still, he promised Lennie's Aunt that he would take care of him. We can condem it by saying that George had no right to kill him, Lennie might have gone to far in George's mind, but he was still innocent (kind of) cause he didn't know what he was doing. And George was supposed to be his friend. But instead he killed him.
2. a. Slim - He seems to be "the leader" of the group. Everyone looks up to him, although you are never sure why, cause he hasn't been there very long. Everyone looks to him to make things right and to make the decisions. Slim's part is to kind of help George along with hard choices, and to be his friend after Lenie is dead.
b. Crooks - Crooks seems to be wanted, to have a friend, but he is different from the others, cause of the color of his skin. But Lennie wants to be friends with him, although Crooks seems to think that it is a trick or something. It seems that Crooks is there so that Lennie can talk to someone and not feel like he isn't wanted. Almost as if they get together because they feel nobody wants them, if that makes sense. They would have been pretty good friends.
c. Curley - He is like the sworn enemy of Lennie, cause Lennie is tall and strong, but he is small, but still strong. And he doesn't like people who are bigger than him. He feels jealous about his wife, cause she is flirting with all of the men.

Why do you think that Curley did not like Lennie? What do you think will happen at their current job? Why do they want to work from farm to farm, why not just get a job in town? Why do you think the "old man" was being so nice to them? Why would a bus driver tell them it was a "little stretch" when it really was 4 miles?
During these chapters you kinda feel the intensity growing, because you don't really know what is going to happen at their new job. That is why I picked this sound.

I am going to connect when Candy's dog was killed to when we have to decide to kill, or put down a pet when he/she is hurt, sick, or even old.
Also when Lennie and Curley got into a fight. That would be like a friend getting mad at another friend when he/she laughed at them when they get hurt or fall, or something along those lines.
This is at the beginning of the fight between Lennie and Curley. (page 68, last chapter - page 69) I picked this for a couple of reasons. First is that this seemed like something that might happen between real grown men. Second is that it shows Lennie is very scared of Curley, even if he might not show it, that George really thinks Lennie can take care of himself, and he really trusts in him.

Fawning- To give a display of exaggerated flattery or affection. Usually in order to gain favor or advantage.
Contorted- Not normal shape, twisted
Lynched- To kill without a legal trial
Crooks- He seems like he is a really good person, but feels left out a lot. Because he has a different color of skin.

Why do you think George killed Lenny, why not Curley, or someone else? Don't you think Lenny might be kinda suspisius when George said to stay looking at the river, or to not turn around? When Lenny had that imagination nightmare, why do you think it came up with the rabbit, and his aunt? Do you think George had his gun, if so how do you think he got it? George and Lenny seemed like they were good friends, how do you think George got the courage to shoot him, like what if you had to do that to your best friend?
This is the brush as I pictured it. I would have drawn Lenny but I am not very good at drawing people.
